That is a great question Sandra.  There could actually be a couple different answers depending on what's going on.  Tanya did a great job answering one of the potential issues... Tension.

Another cause, also tension related, the foundation row chain is tighter than the room your stitches within your rows need so the stitches bow outward on the sides to make room to lay flat.  A way to fix this would be to use a larger crochet hook to make you foundation chain and then switch back to your regular crochet hook.

And vis-versa, if your foundation chain is much looser than the stitches need for the inner body of the project then your blanket will bow inward.  You can do the opposite and start with a smaller crochet hook to make your foundation row chain.  Then switch to a larger hook for row 1.

The only other thing I can think of is a counting issue.  It can be very easy to add or drop stitches in a row without even knowing you are doing it.

Counting can really help to stay on track.

Hi Mary!  It is such a pleasure to meet you.  I'm so grateful you shared a little bit about yourself.  The charities you are involved with are beautiful.  Such a great cause to support.  Your blankets are also beautiful!  So fun, colorful, and the patterns are stunning.  I can tell you had fun making them.  Thank you so much for sharing!  Hope we can see you with the next live.  😊❤️🧶

That is a great question Sandra!  I looked into this to double check and I think my answer is correct.

Knitting Yarn is just a full fancy name for "yarn" and the art of Fiber Crafts.  You can crochet with any yarn or medium that you want to such as plastic bags and fabric.

When knitting and crocheting originated knitting was the primary fiber art for making clothing such as socks, sweaters, hats, scarves, gloves.  Crochet was more so for making lacey embellishments and decorative details on curtains, table clothes, or the borders of clothing and most people would crochet with thread.  Which is why there is a "Crochet Thread".

So the term "knitting yarn"  is just old-school for yarn.

Now, I will say that some yarns have been known to work up easier for knitters than crocheters and visa-versa.  However, there are ways you can get around that by changing the size or medium of you crochet hook.

I hope this makes sense.  🤗

Thanks for asking!!

Oh, you are fine Sandra.  I received the sentiments the exact way you meant for them to be received.  No worries.  I love the different cultures we get to interact with here. 😊❤️🧶

Oh my gosh that is so funny!!!  If you find out how much the yarn cost back in 2018 PLEASE let me know.  I'm curious how different the cost is.  Dang, now I wish I could go back in time to the 90's, 80's even 70's to see how much yarn cost then.  The quality was different though sooo....

Sorry about that Laura!  That was a typo.  I just corrected that and uploaded a new copy of the April Calendar Stitch Card.  We do repeat rows 1 & 2.  There is no row 3.  😄.  You can either print out a fresh newly revised copy or cross off the 2 & 3 and write 1 & 2.

So sorry for the confusion.
