Julie Combs Absolutely!  Go for it!  I like using the off-white when working a red/white/ and blue to give it a vintage look.  😊

Then on the next row of bobbles, just offset your bobbles so they are diagonal, not stacked on top of each other.  You can do this by looking to see where the bobble is in the row below and make you sc on top of that bobble stitch and bobble in the next stitch.

I hope this can help you.

If you are experiencing the same issue on the other side of the blanket you can also begin with a couple single crochets to get yourself into the blanket a little more before beginning the bobble stitch.

Hi Margie, So sorry I didn't get your other questions.  So strange.  You did nothing wrong.  This bulging of the side was extremely common for people with a tight crochet stitch.  We went from a single crochet type stitch that most people work quite tightly to a Bobble stitch which needs a lot of room.  If you look closely you will see that one of your bobble stitches virtually takes up 2 stitch space of the stitch below it.  That bobble stitch is just trying to find it's way to lay flat and the only way it can do so is to push the stitches next to it over.  A solution you can try so you don't have to undo a bunch of work, is go back to the first row of bobble stitches and subtract the last one or two bobble stitches so you make you last bobble stitch inside the blanket itself.  Then work the other stitch that you work between the bobbles, I think that's a single crochet stitch, work that stitch in each stitch space to the end of the row.  This will give your blanket a nice smooth edge

Oh good! I'm glad you got the book.  Yes, the Cascade Crochet Book can be found on Amazon too.  But as of right now I think those are the only locations you can buy it only besides any local yarn shops that might be selling it.  Cascade only sells their products to local yarn shops.  😊  I'm so glad you got the membership all figured out!
