Is there a size requirement? I have a small baby blanket. It would be great for a newborn or preemie.

Michaela Brown “Michi”  I have watched those and they are great. I want to know WHAT determines the size classification not how to determine the size. Is it how many threads, how the yarn is made, what it’s made of? Just with size 4 yarn alone there is a huge difference in thickness and hook sizes across fibers, etc.

For example, I have a size 4 cotton suggesting a 3.75 hook and a size 4 acrylic suggesting a 6.0 hook. They are both size 4 but vastly different. So, it’s not based solely on thickness…is it number of threads, something else? Tiffany Hansen
